UX Architects were commissioned to reinvent an existing two-bedroom 1960’s detached dwelling in Lilliput near Sandbanks, Dorset into a functional but contemporary family home.

A key aspect of the design was centralised on framing views to the garden and the tall pine trees along the rear boundary.

The proposals extended the property to the rear and side to create a four-bedroom dwelling with an office and open plan kitchen / living area. The living area ceiling was vaulted with a contemporary interpretation of the existing conservatory and log burning stove. This space transformed the property and gave the impression that you were sat within a woodland environment with an open fire. A small-scale creative intervention that resulted in a large change to a young family.
