Situated within Avon Castle, Ringwood, the elevated site benefits from views over the River Avon and A.O.N.B beyond. UX Architects worked closely with the planning consultant to deliver two striking detached dwellings that respond to the site constraints.
Plot one is a new plot situated within a screened and sheltered location. The two storey, linear timber first floor sails over the contemporary clad flint ‘garden’ wall to create a strong contrast of the rough and smooth textures of the stone and timber.
Plot two is a replacement dwelling situated on a cliff face fronting onto the River Avon. The dwelling responds to the arboricultural and topographical constraints by staggering away from the road edge and tree canopies to produce a sensitive but striking piece of architecture.
