The Thermo Shelter Project was undertaken by UX Architects as an exploratory project to provide emergency, thermally efficient, lightweight portable shelters to some of the most vulnerable people.
– Portable: Easy to install using recycled insulation panels that slot together and packs into a backpack;
– Warm: The insulation reduces heat loss and body heat warms the shelter to ten degrees warmer than outside;
– Dry: The waterproof membrane keeps the shelter dry and is raised off the ground to prevent rising damp.
At the current time it is still in prototyping stages, but we hope to develop the design further to deploy in refugee camps in Europe.
